Artist

Here is some artwork by Riley Grace. She gets the idea of "creatures" from watching Scooby Doo. I did the circle for the face, but otherwise she did all the features as I named them for her. I think she did a great job for the face! Everything is where it should be.

Christmas Day

Here's Riley checking out her gifts this morning. She was very excited to see everything. It was a lot of fun to see her open and play with things.

Introducing Logan

Here is the new addition to the family: Logan Alexander. He will eventually get his own blog, but until I have the chance to do that he'll be featured here with Riley. He was 7# 6 1/2oz and 19 3/4 inches. Born 12/9/10. He's a sweetheart and there's a great photo here of Riley reading to him!

My sweet girl

The Christmas photo is a little blurry, but she looked so cute saying "cheese" for the camera! And there she is taking care of her baby like mommy was doing with Logan. She has taken to baby Logan quite well so far. She gives him kisses and checks on him when he's sleeping or crying. Riley is just a little sweetie. And check her out "reading" in the car! Nothing like a good Scooby Doo book while on the road!

Look at those beautiful nails!

Riley quotes

A couple of new quotes from Riley:

As a car was driving up the road in front of daycare, she ran to the front door as if it was after her, then wiped her hand across her brow and said: "Whew! That a close one!"

Tonight at supper: "I LIKE TO EAT BEANS!"

Upon trying to explain about baby Logan in my belly: "Baby stuck!"

Regarding things she really likes to eat: "Mmm! That tastey!"

Patty cake is Pa-Pake
Hokey Pokey is Pokey Pokey
Creature is Creeper

Trick or Treat!

Here's Wonder Woman getting ready to trick or treat! And, no, she's not picking her nose. Just chose the wrong time to scratch it. And I made that costume myself! It came out pretty good. I had to do it last minute and on very little sleep as Riley has actually been sick since Thursday night. So I was up with her a lot and little sleep. She was well enough to do Halloween, but hopefully the fever is still gone in the morning. She had a lot of fun though!

Cuddling with daddy

This is not the clearest photo, as it was taken with my phone and the light wasn't good. But it was such a cute shot. She had just finished a bath and was wrapped up in the towel. She had her little hands against one cheek. It was so sweet.

Fun at the fair

Riley had her first experience (in which she could participate) at the county fair. She was a little uncertain at first, but after her first ride, she was hooked! She loved it. She only rode three rides; they were the ones we could go with her on. She rode the carousel twice, the Ferris wheel, and a little ride with dragons that would spin around (like the teacup ride). She also had a lot of fun looking at all the animals, which she did twice. She was a big girl and walked almost the whole time. It was lots of fun and we look forward to next year!

Introducing Logan

I know this is actually Riley's blog, but we don't have one yet for the new guy, so I thought I'd start here. The tope is a 3D US of him. He has his arms on either side of his face. The bottom is 2D US that is just a simple profile. He's about 2 pounds right now, and other than having a 2 vessel cord he is doing fine. They just need to keep monitoring his growth, which so far is good. So, here is Riley's little brother!

Quick Update

I know I need to get some new photos on here soon. I've got a few on the camera, just not on the computer yet.

I've successfully made 5 dresses and one top for Riley. They are not perfect, but they've all come out pretty cute and have held up so far. Hopefully I'll keep improving.

Riley is doing well. I painted her toenails and fingernails tonight. Now THAT was an experience. However, she did manage to stay still well enough that they look pretty decent. And she was very excited about it. I'll have to take a picture of them.

She's made me laugh pretty hard a couple of times lately. Once was in the car, when i drove over the rumble strips on the shoulder. Riley, who had been chattering in the back seat, looked up and said: "Oh! Scuze me, Mommy!" I laughed and laughed. The other time was when all three of us were sitting on the couch and Art had just finished eating something out of a styrofoam cup. Just playing around, he asked Riley to put it in the trash for him. She immediately said "ok" and took it. But then she looked at the cup, then at the toy in her other hand, then up at the cartoon she was watching and really liked, and I think she realized she didn't want to get up at do it. So she turns to me and hands me the cup and says "Trash, Mommy". OMG, so funny. You could just see the gears turning in her head. It was great.

We've been trying to tell her we are having another baby and she'll be a big sister. She doesn't really get it yet. But she seems to be thinking a bit when we tell her.

Well, I'll try to get some photos up soon.

New dress

I am somewhat proud to say that i have made my first article of clothing for Riley. It's not perfect, because i am just learning how to do this, however, i think it came out quite well for a first try. And she looks just adorable in it. When she first saw the fabric she said: "Ooo pretty!"

popsicles

Nothing like popsicles in the heat of summer. And a photo of my lovely stargazer lilies.

Buffalo River

We took Riley to the Buffalo River today, for the first time. She was a little scared at first and took it at her own pace. But after a while, she was having a blast. She got brave enough to walk from mommy to daddy for a short distance in the water and she sat in her little floaty thing and paddled around. She had lots of fun with daddy zooming her through the water. All in all it was a good day and we had a lot of fun. Didn't remember the camera til the end, so not many photos, but here's a couple right before we left.

Some fun in Tulsa

We were all in Tulsa over the weekend. We took Riley to the Oklahoma Aquarium, which is a really neat place. She really seemed to enjoy it. She was really interested in the fish, even the sharks. We also took her to the hotel pool that evening. She was a little intimidated at first, but Daddy was very patient with her and soon had her "jumping" into his arms from the edge (with a little assist, of course). She ended up having a lot of fun in the pool which was really awesome for her first time. We are looking forward to taking her to the pool at one of the parks here and think she will really enjoy learning how to swim.

Oh, I also discovered that trying to sleep with Riley in our bed is like trying to sleep with a giraffe with restless leg syndrome, so I don't think I'll be doing that again!

And I forgot the camera of course.....sigh....

Sorry about not posting!

I know i haven't posted anything about Riley in over a month I think. I just haven't had the chance to sit down and do it. However, she is doing well. Had to take her to the ER about a week ago when she hit her head on the edge of a table and got a gash by her eye. Thought it might need a stitch or two, but they were able to glue it. It remains to be seen whether or not she'll have a scar. I must say that she was very, very good during the 2 hour wait in the ER.

Otherwise she is doing well. She loves to color with chalk, crayons and color pencils. She saying more sentences and adding new words all the time.

I hope to get some new photos up soon.

Breezy Easter Egg Hunt

Happy Easter

Riley got to do her Easter egg hunt this after noon after I got off work. She got right into it and had a lot of fun. Especially once she figured out some of the eggs were real and that to open them she could just mash them! It wasn't sunny and was a little windy, but the temperature was nice so it was still fun.

Fishes

Riley got a small aquarium and 5 guppies for her birthday. And, yes, it is actually in her room. It's not down so low that she has easy access to it, but she can see it and if she stands on a stool can get a little closer. She seems to be enjoying it and really likes to feed them. I'll try to get some photos on here soon of her and her fishes.

$$$

OK. Riley had over one hundred dollars in her piggy bank. I know this because she no longer has a piggy bank. In her enthusiasm to get on the step stool to look at her fish, she knocked her piggy bank down with a thunderous crash. Thankfully she was still on the step stool when I ran in there as there were ceramic shards everywhere. As well as a bunch of cash. So of course I counted it. She needs to take us out to dinner!

Hunkered down to color and hanging out with PePa.

MeMa and PePa

Hanging out with grandma and grandpa. And being a couch potato watching The Incredibles. Oh, and I just have to tell everyone, that Riley calls Grandma Gail: MeMa and grandpa: PePa. However, she has taken to putting a "T" on the end of those names for some reason. So now they are: MeMot and PePot! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Having fun outside

She got all dolled up to go outside and grandma's. There she is with Daddy throwing rocks into the creek. She actually let grandma put her hair up. That NEVER happens.

Mommy and me

One of the few photos of me with Riley. I'm usually the one behind the camera.

Trendsetter

Gotta love that outfit! Taste is in the eye of the beholder...

Birthday

The best present ever!!

Happy Birthday Riley Grace!

She is now two years old. Had her birthday at grandma and grandpa's and had a great time.

Who needs sun!

Here's the little snow bunny during the last snow we had. I think we got around 10 inches. As you can see, all she wants to do is eat it.
