Sighhhhhh....

Sighhhhh.....the battle of the diaper change. When will it end. The kicking, the thrashing, the rolling and squirming. And she thinks it is all so funny. I look forward to the days when she is potty trained. In the meantime, i shall suffer the wrestling matches.

However, I am looking forward to Christmas. It will be fun. Got some cute photos taken, but haven't gotten them in yet.

Still a talker!

Haven't posted in a while. I need to get some new photos up!

Riley is doing well. New things she's saying are: " Come on", "I touched it", "monkey" (sounds like mummy), "horse", "fish", "snake", and a few others words.

She has said a couple of other phrases like "Bye Daddy" and "more please". Well, once in a while she says these.

She helped mommy take laundry to the bedrooms and haul branches to the burn pile. And she loves to blow raspberries on my tummy. And does a good job of it, too!

Growing Girl

Riley will be 18 months old Friday August 21. Hard to believe. She's such a big girl, but still my baby.

New things she likes to say are: mine, shoe, sock, bubbles, snack, block, cookie, cracker, water, clock, "tick tick" (for a clock) and some unfortunate attempts at saying sheet and shirt.

She can climb up the foot of the adult bed that's in her room all on her own. She's quite proud of that.

She loves to give kisses.

She's going through some separation anxiety right now. Nothing terrible, but when I take her to daycare she won't let go of me and cries for a couple of minutes. But it's over quickly, because she loves it there.

She's still a sweet little girl that's growing up fast.

Sweet Girl

Just a few cute recent photos of Riley.

The Flasher

Riley has, of course, reached that point where she has figured out how to remove her diaper. She doesn't do it often, and sometimes I think it's just as accident, but there are other times I know it's on purpose. Like yesterday morning when I see her remove one on the tapes on it and then it falls to the floor. Ha ha ha and she runs off. Very cute til I see the turd on the floor. All I can say is I'm glad she didn't step in it and I'm glad it wasn't diarrhea.

She speaks!

Riley said her first "sentence" the other day: "eat please". Of course it sounded like: "ee peas", which is way cuter. And she also made the sign for "please" when she said it. very cute.

A Day Out

I can't figure out why blogger puts the photos up in the order they do. It's not the order I put them in. Anyway, we went to Blanchard Springs today just to get out of the house. We didn't go into the caverns, just visited the spring and the creek. Riley very much enjoys being outside and she loves the water, although the spring water is icy cold. She looks like such a big girl going up the steps with Daddy.

Making Faces

This photo is so funny to me because it looks like she's screaming, but she actually wasn't making a sound. I have no idea what she was doing. Being silly I guess.

Very Serious

Bad Dog

It is SO HARD to get decent photos of Riley. She is just so darned fast that the moment is gone. The camera cannot focus fast enough. Then she gets too close and there's no way I can get a good shot. *sigh* But I do like this one.

Anyway, we were playing outside and the neighbor's sausage shaped dog with no neck was yapping at us. Riley became incensed at this and waved her finger at it and in her sternest voice said "Stop that! Stop that!". Of course, not that clear, but you could tell what she was saying. Then I swear it sounded like she said "bad dog". We've never said that around her as we have no dog, but I suppose they could have in daycare maybe as part of a story. I'll have to ask.

Stop That!

Riley was making conversation in her baby gibberish but in the middle of it she pointed to the cat ( i think) and said "Stop that! No!" and just shook her little finger. Then went on talking nonsense. So funny. I know she's heard it from us (of course) and in daycare. I'm sure more 'NOs' are coming our way.

Goofy Girl

Riley used some of her signs today to say "eat" and "more" when she wanted some cookies. the she signed for "milk". although sometimes i think she uses the milk sign for when she just wants something to drink. so anyway she stuffed the cookie in her mouth and then was looking at me out of the corner of her eye in some weird mad scientist kind of way and then smiled a silly smile. who knows what she's thinking.

in the photo she's enjoying sucking the water from the sprinkler off of her hand. she mostly does that and also sticks in her face in the water to drink it.

Learning

While I was trying to cook dinner I put a Baby Einstein video in to see if Riley might be interested. She usually doesn't pay much attention to the tv and I rarely put videos in for her, but I thought I'd try it. To my surprise she stood there and watched quite a bit. It's a video that has some basic baby sign language and she was watching and then would imitate some of the signs, like "milk", "drink", "more", and others. She was really intrigued. Mostly she loves to see all the kids and babies on the videos.

Busy Girl

Riley was helping Daddy on the computer. They start so young these days.
Then, she was determined to put Daddy's boots on, which she did with only supporting help from Mommy.

The Reader

As you can see, Riley was enjoying a good read this day. She's got her own little chair that she just loves, and she sat down in it with her books and the newspaper of all things and was reading out loud. The first two photos above show her perusing her "library" for a suitable book. Usually they just all end up on the floor.

A visit with Grandma and Grandpa

St. Louis

We all went to St. Louis on mother's day to go to the zoo and botanical gardens. It was a wonderful weekend with perfect weather and we all had a lot of fun. It will be nice to go back when Riley is older and can enjoy it even more.

Outside

It was a beautiful day this afternoon so we had some fun out in the yard before supper. Riley mostly interested in the white landscaping rocks that I so want to get rid of.
